Michelle Stone

Title and Rights Analyst

Hello! my name is Michelle Stone, and I've recently joined the TRS (Title and Rights Stewardship) department within Scw'exmx Tribal Council (STC).

In my role, I provide analyses of adverse Title and Right impacts for proposed projects submitted by Federal, Provincial, Regional, Civic Governments, and Industries. My passion for learning about our Inherent Rights to Self-Governance drives me in this work. I firmly believe that we have a responsibility to protect our way of life for our children and future generations.

Born and raised in Nlaka’pamux Territory, I'm a proud mother raising my son in the same land where I was brought up. I owe much to my late grandparents, whose legacy inspires me to carry on the stewardship of our ancestral lands. I'm committed to upholding our Title and Rights and ensuring the preservation of our culture and heritage for generations to come.

"We must protect the forests for our children, grandchildren, and children yet to be born. We must protect the forests for those who can’t speak for themselves, such as the birds, animals, fish, and trees."

Qwatsinas (Hereditary Chief Edward Moody), Nuxalk Nation.

"If you’re not part of the solution you're part of the problem."
